CPU usage suddenly jumps to 100% with nothing else running! I know this can’t be good. HELP!?
don’t know squat about computers, only that my boys needed one for school. Have a Dell Dimension 3000, Windows XP Pent 4 and it’s black. Otherwise, I have no idea what makes the thing tick. Only that everything started going wrong on the day we hooked up on the internet via SBC Yahoo! AT&T internet service. One problem after another since that day last month. Have spent more hours on phone with tect support then online. They send new software, tell me all is well with that problem only to have different problem pop up minutes later. Have lost all respect for their support teams. Trying to pay my way with Yahoo by answering questions. Over 50 questions past two weeks, many top answers, so in my field, I am no dummy. Computers, that’s another world. Now I’m turning to you for help with my problem. This CPU thing is totally beyond me. Thanks! rob-hansen@sbcglobal.net A.K.A. “garden dok” at Answers.
You might be spiking the CPU due to heat caused by dust build up in the computer. Take the cover off and clean the fans and blow the dust out with canned air. Leave the cover off and turn it on and see if it spikes. Make sure the CPU fans is running to keep it cool. If it doesn’t spike put the cover back on and see what happens. If it spikes after the cover is on, then get better ventilation around the computer. If you or anyone using it smokes or it’s located near the kitchen, you will need to use alcohol and a qtip and clean the surface of all the chips.
In none of that works, turn off all programs that run from startup. If this stops the spiking you will need to turn on each program one at a time to find the one that’s causing the problem.
To get to the start up menu: START>RUN>type MSCONFIG and click OK>select the startup tab. Everything with a check is running from startup. You can either uncheck one at a time and restart to see if it was that program or uncheck all and then do one at atime that way. Remember you will have to restart after each one. This takes time.
After all this, you do not need to run all the programs from startup. This will help it run faster and cooler by not running programs that are not needed to run all the time.

Hell Home $12.58 Hell HomeA very inspiring children’s book about faith, strength and survival. A book fill with emotions and anger, yet very comforting to the hearts of young children and adults who believe in the power of pray. A touching story about seven little girls living at an Orphanage under the supervision of a psychotic Matron called Miss Cross. The children were treated horribly and very often were forced to go to bed without food and water. Sarah, a very brave little girl was the self appointed leader for the group, and convinced the others to protest the inhumane living conditions at the Orphanage. This decision was met with severe punishment by the Matron who ordered the girls to be locked up in the basement cellar. The dirty old basement was reserved for storing broken pieces of furniture, including old beds and garden equipment, besides other unwanted items. It was also used as a haven for rodents and a burial ground for dead animals. The children remained in the basement for days without food and water, a punishment which they endured on a number of occasions. The staff members at the Orphanage were very afraid of Matron Cross and participated in the bad treatment of the children. This cruel and inhumane situation, along with lack of proper medical attention led to the death of Sandy, who was accidentally burnt and succumbed to her injuries. Nola drowned while trying to escape from the ‘Hell Home’ Orphanage in a boat. Megan’s health deteriorated rapidly from ill treatment and Kate committed suicide while undergoing punishment in the basement.Reader, see how a courageous little girl name Sarah O’Dell persevered and fought hard despite the prolonged bad treatment from Matron, to transform St. Francis Children’s Home into a home away from home for future children. Also, prepare yourself for the unfortunate demise of Matron Cross. |

CHAPTER I. Down in a deep dell, just at the end of a pretty and large village, in the south of England, nestled in the thick foliage, was an old, picturesque dwelling, which, ” time out of mind,” had been the Parsonage; and close beside it, its large cedars mingling with the hawthorns in the Parsonage garden, was the old church and church-yard, beneath the green sod of which lay the mortal remains of many who had done duty for years in that quiet church, and sank to rest beneath the roof of the pretty Parsonage. Righteousness and Peace might there have “kissed each other,” and Mercy and Faith have met together, so holy seemed the calm, tranquil beauty of the spot, so fitted for thedwelling place of one of His ministers, who came to bring ” peace and good will on earth.” The house was very old, low, and long, with one floor projecting over another, half timbered, with the windows casemented, and a strong oaken door, with the quaintest of knockers. This door stood open all the summer, showing the hall, which was hung with pictures, the floor covered with Indian matting, and chairs and tables standing there of strange and varied forms, some of the former said to have once belonged to Mrs. Thrale, and many times to have received the portly form of Dr. Johnson when imbibing some of her best bohea. The present inhabitants had endeavoured to fill the rooms with furniture consistent with the age of the dwelling, and the only one which was newly furnished was the drawing room,— butthat seemed exclusively the apartment of the ladies,—filled with flowers and pictures, and books in gay bindings, and tapestry frames, and all the knick-knacks with which women adorn rooms, and give to them that ” homey,” comfortable appearance never to be found in the abode of |

Visitor Attractions In Turin $10.09 Purchase includes free access to book updates online and a free trial membership in the publisher’s book club where you can select from more than a million books without charge. Chapters: Shroud of Turin, Orto Botanico Dell’università Di Torino. Excerpt: The Orto Botanico dell’Università di Torino (2.6 hectares) is a botanical garden and arboretum operated by the Dipartimento di Biologia Vegetale of the University of Turin . It is located in the Parco del Valentino along the Po River , at Viale Pier Andrea Mattioli, Turin , Italy , and open weekends and holidays during the warmer months; an admission fee is charged. The garden’s origins can be traced as far back as 1560 when collections of live plants were established at the Studio di Mondovì, which moved to the university in 1566. Today’s garden dates to 1713 when Victor Amadeus II of Sardinia established the Orto Regio. With establishment in 1729 of the university’s chair in botany, held by G.B. Caccia, it legally became a part of the university.Between 17301731 the garden was laid out in a geometric plan of flowerbeds within the Castello del Valentino ’s existing garden area (approximate 6800 m2), within which Caccia planted about 800 species. By 1762 some 1200 species were in cultivation. In 1796 Victor Amadeus III of Sardinia donated areas west and north of the castello, bringing the garden’s area to somewhat larger than its current extent. By 1810 the garden contained about 6000 cultivated plants, with an arboretum organized on its northern section (the boschetto), and the constructions of greenhouses , orangery , and herbarium . Between 1831-1839 further construction added additional greenhouses, and in 1848 a substantial orangery.Unfortunately the subsequent century saw considerable diminution of the garden. After 1876 various greenhouses were demolished to make way for laboratories, in 1892-1893 garden space was lost to further building, and in 1929, 1969, and 1977 additional |
